Strange Beautiful Music

That's the name of one of Satriani's albums...But I think this post is worthy of that name too. This is the strange, beautiful music I've been listening to recently...The stuff that I really really think is worth a listen. So let's be clear, I'm no pop, RnB dude...Not that much of a rapper unless a little bit with some old Linkin Park songs. What I am is pure hard rock and some metal. More alternative rock. More grunge. Some thrash metal here and there...Some alternative/Nu metal here and there. Enough talking...As Stan Smith had once said, 'What time is it? Time to kick it!'

RADIOHEAD
English and hard rock. That tough mixture. They do remind me of the legendary Beatles...Paranoid Android particularly reminds me of one of my favorite Beatles songs called 'Strawberry Fields Forever'. Then we have Creep which is a fantastic song too...A gripping guitar and those desperate vocals that cling to your ear from the first listen. The cover by KoRn was not as good, but (as a bit of a KoRn fan) I enjoyed it. But my favorite from Radiohead is Just, a track that starts with a fantastic guitar riff and vocals that (in their flamboyance) remind me of Hendrix's 'Purple Haze'.

Just
Creep

Paranoid Android

LINKIN PARK
Their new album. Not that much of horrible music done...Except on 'Hands Held High' and some other stuff. I'd put 'Bleed It Out' (basically its made-in-Chester chorus) as the highlight of the whole album. What I've Done and Given Up feature the first raw guitar playing that I have ever heard in the musical history of Linkin Park. Chester's newly found, raging, scream will be a reason many Mike Shinoda's fans will start hating the band. I was never really a Mike Shinoda fan. Song recommendations:
Bleed It Out
What I've Done

Shadow Of The Day
In Pieces
A Place For My Head

Hit The Floor

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE
Or RATM for short. Tom Morello...That freaking legend. A Harvard graduate and a man who probably uses the guitar as anything but a guitar. His style is innovative...The 'Bulls On Parade' track was rumored to contain samples when it was just Morello scratching against the strings. Then there was the 'Township Rebellion' verse bit where he ticks on the part of the string between the head and the nut. And that's insane...I thought that sound was ridiculous from ANY guitar. On my first listen of Township Rebellion, I thought it was a DJ effect. I can't wait for the new album. Song recommendations:
Bulls On Parade
Township Rebellion

Freedom

Tire Me

SOUNDGARDEN
Along with Nirvana, Pearl Jam, this band stands in the frontline of the Seattle grunge movement. An excellent band...Kim Thayil's guitars are a perfect match to the made-for-grunge voice of Chris Cornell. It all fits together in a symphony of alternative rock. The bassist does not stand out as much as Nirvana's did though, but still, I'm only a listener, so I wouldn't know. Novoselic's unforgettable bass on Smells Like Teen Spirit is what I mean by 'stand out'. But anyhow...Song recommendations:
Hands All Over
My Wave
Outshined
Burden In My Hand
Black Hole Sun

So that was my nice little music review of the past three weeks of music. I know there are probably two who'll check this blog...If they do lol. So anyhow...Take care strangers.
