Music Legends

Poor old John Lennon. He used to say, 'Time wasted enjoying yourself is not wasted time'. The dude got shot though, a sad ending for the man who sung 'Imagine' and 'Strawberry Fields Forever'. And truely there are some musicians who were respectable...I mean, even though he once had an album that had a cover of him and his wife nude, but still...Some aspects of his life were inspiring. Like the way he and The Beatles rose to fame. Like his genius talent in both songwriting and composing The Beatles most famous hits like 'In My Life' and 'Strawberry Fields Forever'. What can we do? God chose to take him, God does what he wants.

And you got that dude from Metallica, James Hetfield...That guy is the BOMB! He's truely a master when it comes to the 90s thrash metal. He's the one who truely defined the genre with his music and vocals with Metallica. Songs like 'St. Anger' would be translated in the English-speaking Music Dictionary as 'Pure Thrash Metal'. Obviously, Dave Mustaine from Megadeth also contributed to the genre but let us not forget he was also a former member of Metallica, who are (along with Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and Jimi Hendrix) have evolved a lot of what we see of metal and hard rock today.

And who could forget Jimi Hendrix? An all too short a life for this dude. He was a talent that is not repeated except in centuries. Hendrix played complex solos with his eyes closed, his guitar over his head and sometimes while licking the steel strings of his electric guitar. No two guitarists would disagree about the talent and revolutionary abilities that Hendrix had. The man played guitar as if it was something he was trained to do since he was in his mother's womb. But only three albums?! Poor dude here also.

Now when it comes to vocal jazz, one just can't skip Ray Charles. His album 'Genius Loves Company' along with his huge discography truely proves that Ray Charle was a legendary figure of vocal jazz. The album ranges with a huge number of vocalists, but when Ray starts singing, one simply forgets about them in the song. He wipes them off with his voice. And they're not small voices also. They're as big a names as Gladys Knight and Jim Morrison yet Ray Charles is simply invincible in his duets with them.

Not to mention of course the instrumentalists like Kenny G, Carlos Santana and others. Kenny G's talents on the saxphone are truely a life-changing experience. You can sit and listen and relax. Carlos Santana had just changed the nature of the electric guitar...He produces the music that reeks of wisdom yet shine with modernity which is in itself a lovely musical ability.

Anyhow, I'm off now. Life hasn't been sucking on that much lately if that's what you've been waiting to hear.

I leave you in God's protection...

A minor correction, James Heitfeld pioneered the eighties thrash metal scene and not the nineties one. Infact, the last albums (St. Anger and the late nineties ones) were clearly deviated from 'pure thrash metal'

You BOTHERED to read that? I never thought so...
Correction valid obviously.Nirvana were the best in the nineties weren't they?
But...St. Anger WAS thrash metal, that is if we agree on the meaning of thrash metal.

Thanks SW. You're on my list too.
